MCREST
(Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team)

Sunday, August 24th –
Sunday, August 31st.

It is hard to believe, but soon it will be time for St. Isidore to host our annual MCREST (Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team). We will be hosting Sunday, August 24th – Sunday, August 31st. Once again, we will be hosting around 30 men during this week.

These are men who are not looking for a hand-out, but a hand–up. For the most part, they are men who have lost their jobs, their homes and sometimes, their families. Some of them are separated from their families (wives and children at another facility). They are trying desperately to regain their place in the work force, have their own living space and re-unite with their family.

McRest gives them time to do that; giving them a place to sleep that’s warm in the winter and cool in the summer. They are given three meals a day, offered some recreational opportunities and also, if desired, some spiritual help/direction.

You can help by filling out the form below to donate your time in whatever capacity you are comfortable with, or donating some hygiene items such as:
  • Packs of tube socks
  • Travel size toothpaste, alcohol free mouth wash (again, travel size) hotel size bars of soap, travel size shampoo.

We have parish groups that take turns making the evening meal and a group of dedicated people who make sure they have a good breakfast with which to start their day. While some of the men go to low-paying jobs during the day, others are out looking for work or trying to arrange for a place to live. As stated at the beginning of this article, they are looking for a hand-up, not a hand out. Jesus constantly reminds us in the Gospels to help our less fortunate brother and sisters. This is a concrete way to do that: giving of ourselves so that others may have a chance to better their lives.

Please fill out the following from and return to the office in person, by mail, or in the offertory in an envelope marked MCREST by Sunday, July 27st, 2014 if possible. You will be notified with a final schedule closer to MCREST.

Thank you for all you do!

    St. Isidore Music Ministry News
    Summer 2014

    Music Ministry Alive 2014

Three of our St. Isidore Teens, Rachel Schmitt, Julia Schmitt & Nicholas Righi have been accepted and will be attending the Music Ministry Alive camp July 29-August 3 at the College of St. Catherine’s in St. Paul, Minnesota. This national program celebrates it’s 16th year as a wonderfully inspirational, prayerful and formational growth experience for these and other young music ministers, encouraging them in their musicality and liturgical leadership. We hope to bring back new liturgical skills, fresh perspectives, ideas and music to share with you and our St. Isidore Community. Please pray for our teens (and adult leaders Lia Difonzo and Amy Righi.)

Music Ministers Day of Enrichment and Reflection
    Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 8:30am to 1:30pm.

Formation and discussion will be facilitated by Joe Balistreri, Director of Music Ministry for the Archdiocese of Detroit.

Lunch and Breakfast will be included for all St. Isidore Music Ministers; instrumentalists AND cantors/vocalists & choir members!

Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend this event as we kick-off and jump start our new ministry year together. Registration begins in August in the choir room via your music director.

    It's Up To YOU!!!

    Time and Talents

God has given us gifts and talents. It’s up to us whether we use them to help build the Reign of God here on earth or whether we let them “wither on the vine” and are never harvested. It’s up to us whether we want to join with others to help build a loving, caring parish community. It’s up to us whether we want to help make our worship a meaningful, joyful gathering.

These are the areas we offer you to do what you are called to do. It’s up to YOU.

    St. Isidore Ministries

What is your choice? It’s up to YOU. Choose, then mark the appropriate box(es) in the form below. Please fill out one form for each person even if you are already involved in the ministry. You can drop off the form in collection basket or at the office.
